Opportunity for a Seasoned Site Superintendent
Northern Industrial Construction is currently seeking a Site Superintendent for our rural northern projects. This individual will have well-rounded skill sets to join our growing team. Our crews typically work a 4 on/2 off rotation working 60 hrs per week with an option for increased hours if desired.
Candidates must be able to work on a rotational schedule as detailed below.
Schedule:
· Monday to Saturday, 10-hour days
· 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off for employees traveling from western or northern Canada (BC, AB, SK, MB, Yukon, NT, NU)
· 6 weeks on and 2 weeks off rotations for employees traveling from eastern Canada (NL, NS, PEI, NB, QC, ON)
· Employees can volunteer to work longer rotations; the site supervisor and management must approve this.
Key Responsibilities
· Works with the project manager to ensure implementation of Northern Industrial Construction’s safety program, including integrating NIC’s safety program into all site plans and procedures adhering to all safety and record keeping protocol.
· Supervises, directs, coaches, trains, and mentors the project team, including direct and indirect reports.
· Effectively communicates with staff and trades and ensures that performance, productivity, quality and safety requirements are met.
· Consistently collaborates with construction/project manager and project team. Proactively manages potential problems, work interferences, and schedule conflicts/setbacks.
· Liaises between field engineers, estimators, and subcontractors to ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications.
· Liaises with client, other site contractors, union and labor relations, and site and office representatives.
· Visualizes an entire project, plans, and creates the complete project schedule, identifies the critical path, and anticipates constructability issues.
· Develops and implements three-week lookahead schedules.
· Creates, maintains, and executes the project plan and schedule, and ensures compliance with budget, quality and project completion dates are met in accordance with the estimate.
· Reviews and understands the contract and subcontracts and develops a plan that identifies and mitigates risks and maximizes opportunities to ensure all financial targets, including budgets, forecasts, and profitability levels are met.
· Maintains project administration correspondence and complies with documentation requirements.
· Develops and maintains strong customer focused relationships with all stakeholders.
· Complete daily reports
· Complete and submit Requests for Information (RFI).
· Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions.
· Identify subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards.
· Preside over weekly subcontractor meetings designed to coordinate the work.
· Issue notices of non-compliance to subcontractors regarding quality of work or scheduling.
· Ensure that the job site is always kept in a clean and organized manner.
· Perform job progress and completion punch list identification and completion.
Secondary Functions
· Assist in budgeting, bidding, and award of subcontracts.
· Assist in obtaining permits or approval of revisions.
· Gather project material submittals and maintain records of approvals at the jobsite.
· Identify areas of work that are outside of subcontracted scope.
· Preside at pre-construction meeting with each subcontractor.
· Opening the jobsite at beginning of the day and securing the jobsite at the end of the day.
· Assist in hiring local workforce.
Supervisory Responsibility
· The Superintendent must supervise all subcontractors, consultants, and vendors daily and must ensure adequate manpower is available for each task and compliant work is performed
Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years of journeyperson carpentry experience
- Proven experience in construction site supervision, especially in a remote setting
- Valid driver's license with 3 years of experience and a clean abstract.
