We are a busy and growing welding and steel fabrication shop based in Calgary, committed to maintaining a safe, productive, and professional work environment. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Officer to lead and support our health and safety program.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain company health and safety policies and procedures
- Conduct regular shop inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits
- Ensure compliance with Alberta OHS legislation and industry standards
- Lead incident investigations and prepare detailed reports with corrective actions
- Coordinate and deliver safety training, orientations, and toolbox talks
- Maintain safety records, certifications, and documentation
- Work closely with management and shop staff to promote a strong safety culture
- Assist in WCB claims management and return-to-work programs
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a Safety Officer role, preferably in welding, fabrication, or construction
- Strong knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health & Safety regulations
- COR certification or working towards it is an asset
- First Aid certification (required)
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
