Position Overview+
As a apprentice carpenter you are responsible to perform a variety of tasks at a construction project site. Tasks may require little skill and be learned quickly; other tasks require considerable experience or hands-on training. This position is often required to work outside in all kinds of weather or in buildings without heating or air conditioning.
Roles & Responsibilities
· Assist tradesmen and machine operators in construction projects
· Erect and break up scaffolding, ramps etc. with attention to safety
· Unload and carry materials at construction sites
· Use equipment to break old forms and structures
· Use tools to demolish structures
· Prepare and apply construction materials to build structures or fill gaps
· Smooth and level new concrete or other materials
· Clean out site from debris and discarded material
· Place safety tools and signals out (signs for traffic etc) where appropriate
· Maintain a daily log of tasks and hazard assessment cards.
Required Experience and Education:
· Proven experience as a apprentice carpenter
· Experience in operating equipment
· The ability to stand, crouch and kneel for long periods of time.
· Completion of CSTS, Fall Protection, and carpentry or forming experience are assets.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.00-$30.00 per hour
