Otherwise known as extremely happy customers. We currently have a position available for a Senior Accountant.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to lead full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, year-end processes, and Canadian tax compliance. This role also includes supervising a full-time accounting assistant and working closely with the Finance Manager to support strong financial governance and business performance.
Key Responsibilities
Full-Cycle Accounting
- Responsible for full-cycle accounting, including AP, AR, GL, payroll, and bank/credit card reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate and timely month-end close processes.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, coordinating inputs from cross-functional teams.
- Prepare rolling forecasts and financial projections.
- Monitor budget-to-actual performance and highlight risks or opportunities
- Prepare and file monthly GST, PST, Quarterly EHT, and WCB returns
- Prepare and file annual returns, including T4S and T5108 for contractors, and annual WCB and EHT reports.
- Coordinate year-end working papers, schedules, and supporting documentation for the external firm for corporation tax filings.
Team Leadership & Oversight
- Supervise and support the accounting assistant, including training, workload planning, and performance feedback.
- Review work for accuracy and completeness; provide process guidance and mentorship.
- Support the development of standardized procedures and improved workflows.
Process Improvement & Controls
- Identify and implement continuous improvements in accounting processes and systems.
- Strengthen internal controls, documentation, and financial governance.
- Collaborate with the Finance Manager on finance transformation initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with operations, sales, supply chain, and management to provide financial insights.
- Support ad hoc analysis, projects, and decision-making as required.
- Assist in ERP implementation project when needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance or a CPA designation.
- 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and Canadian tax compliance.
- Experience preparing financial statements, budgets, and year-end working papers.
- Prior experience supervising or mentoring junior staff is an asset.
- Proficient in Excel, with accounting software (Sage, NetSuite or any ERP).
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Salary and benefits
$80,000 -$96,000 / year plus Performance bonus
