What is your next role:
As a key member of the Airport Operations team, the Machine Driver Operator (MDO) as an airfield operations, maintenance and equipment operator will be responsible for keeping all the facilities in a great working order; ensuring summer maintenance is complete and access to the airport’s many facilities and infrastructure is always available, as well as winter snow and ice removal and other diverse tasks. This position operates a variety of heavy equipment at the airport and completes hands-on tasks to maintain the airport airside and groundside surfaces; performs general repairs and preventative maintenance work on all airport surfaces, buildings, facilities and equipment, as well as
- Inspects all equipment they use for mechanical defects and safety on a regular basis and report any mechanical attention required; taking action to resolve minor maintenance items independently
- Work as part of a team to complete season maintenance such as pavement surface repairs, crack filling, line painting, vegitation control (grass cutting, etc.), and;
- Work as part of a team to complete season maintenance snow removal and ice control during the winter season.

- Willingness to undertake varied work that supports the continued operations of all facilities but may not use heavy equipment (fence repairs, surface line painting, crack sealing, general building maintenance repairs)
Eligibility:
You must be legally eligible to work for a Canadian company (e.g., be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or possess a valid work permit), have completed Grade 12 or equivalent, fluent in English (to be able to study and receive a Radio Operator Certificate) provide a recent clear Police Records Check (to be able to receive a Restricted Area Pass), have a current and valid DZ driver’s license (or transferrable equivalent from another province) to operate airport equipment, and have experience operating equipment such as but not exclusive to the following.
- Wheeled articulating loaders
- Tractors and mowers
- Truck (highway or otherwise commercially rated)
- Plow / wing plow and plow truck
Optionally, considered assets but may alternatively receive on the job training for, would include experience with:
- Grader
- Towed trailer
- Excavator
- Commercial self-propelled snow blower
- Other unrelated but transferable heavy equipment operations experience in mining, forestry, agriculture, highway transportation and maintenance, etc.
- Previous airfield operations experience with another airport or onsite aeronautical business is considered an asset.
As member of the Airport Operations team this position also support wildlife control plans, facility maintenance and repairs, preparing equipment and supplies for tasks, and leading others.
