Raise is currently hiring a Category Lead on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The Category Lead (CL) operates as the overall "owner and manager" of their assigned categories, ensuring they meet performance objectives in strict alignment with our clients goals and priorities. As a Category Lead, you are a subject matter expert who deeply understands the external market, supplier landscapes, and internal drivers and requirements. This role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution, requiring an initiative-driven professional who can navigate ambiguity, lead cross-functional teams, and build seamless relationships with internal business partners and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities

Category Management & Sourcing Strategy

End-to-End Ownership: Develop, implement, and sustain category and sourcing strategies for medium-to-high complexity portfolios or infrastructure capital projects.

Sourcing Execution: Lead and support multi-stage sourcing activities, including drafting comprehensive RFPs/RFIs, managing evaluation processes, and driving end-to-end sourcing workflows with high attention to detail.

Negotiations & Contract Management: Prepare for and conduct commercial negotiations for initial contract awards, amendments, and extensions. Analyze and resolve escalated supplier or contract issues as needed.

Executive Reporting: Conduct deep-dive analyses and utilize advanced Excel and PowerPoint to draft concise, well-written business briefing documents for leadership and executive review.

Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Building

Strategic Advisory: Act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert to internal business units on category management best practices, public procurement standards, and operational efficiencies.

Relationship Development: Establish and maintain highly collaborative, productive relationships with ’s internal business partners, suppliers, and industry stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead diverse, cross-functional teams through the decision-making process, ensuring stakeholder feedback is listened to, integrated, and managed constructively.

Qualifications
-
(10) years of direct experience in sourcing, category management, or an equivalent supply chain function.

Proven experience navigating and executing sourcing strategies within large, complex, heavily matrixed corporate environments.

Experience sourcing for heavy categories or infrastructure capital projects is highly desirable.

Technical & Core Skills

Expert-level skills in Excel (data analysis, modeling) and PowerPoint (building clean, executive-ready presentations).

A solid understanding of public sector procurement laws, trade agreements, and structured governance frameworks.

Exceptional written and spoken English skills, with a proven ability to distill complex data into clear business briefings.

Preferred Assets (Nice-to-Haves)

Direct experience with BC Bid or automated public procurement platforms.

Deep operational supply chain or logistics experience.

A background working within high-volume, highly regulated, or safety-critical industries such as Oil & Gas, utilities, or heavy industrial sectors.

Education and Certifications
-
Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field (e.g., Supply Chain, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Asset: Professional certification or advanced education in Supply Chain Management (e.g., SCMP, CSCP).

Asset: Certification or training in Project Management (PMP), Change Management (PROSCI), Facilitation, or Corporate Communication.

Additional Information
- Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
