Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy machinery and industrial equipment. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency with hand and power tools, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will ensure all equipment operates efficiently, minimizing downtime and supporting operational productivity.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using schematics and diagnostic tools
- Conduct welding and fabrication tasks as needed for repairs or modifications
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment safely and effectively
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams to identify issues and implement solutions
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts used
- Assist with assembly of new equipment or components when required
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols during all maintenance activities
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance needs
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or similar role within a dealership or industrial setting
- Strong knowledge of excavator, crane, forklift, Caterpillar machinery, HVAC systems, and other industrial equipment
- Experience with automotive repair, electrical systems, welding, and mechanical troubleshooting
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and perform heavy lifting as necessary
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, schematics, and diagnostic equipment
- Knowledge of maintenance procedures for farm machinery and industrial equipment
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills for customer service interactions
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
