HR Project Partners is currently accepting resumes for a Purchasing Agent (Fixed Term) on behalf of our client, Equinox Gold, Valentine Gold Mine. The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience with the procurement of materials and services in an industrial setting.
Reporting to the Procurement and Contracts Superintendent, the Purchasing Agent is responsible for providing support in purchasing materials, equipment, and services for operations, aiming to assure the supply of items for business continuity at the lowest total cost of ownership possible, and achieving industry best practice standards of delivery time and quality of products and services.
This position works Monday – Friday from the Grand Falls-Windsor office with ad-hoc travel to site.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Negotiate, renegotiate, and issue Purchase Orders to suppliers, vendors, and other representatives.
- Guided by total cost of ownership principles, procure the highest quality materials at the lowest possible cost in correct amounts as per specifications and drawings supplied by the internal customer (operations).
- Maintain and review computerized or manual records of items purchased, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventories
- Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier’s reputation and history.
- Evaluate and monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and determine the need for changes.
- Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.
- Manage Back Orders in a timely manner
- Ensure all financial transactions are completed in accordance with Equinox Procurement Policies and Procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Post secondary education required
- Proficiency in inventory software, ERP systems, databases, and related business applications. SAP S4/HANA experience is considered an asset.
- SCMP designation & membership with the SCMA would be considered an asset.
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience with the procurement of materials and services in an industrial setting (Mining preferred).
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- A valid driver's license and driver’s abstract required.

- Basic knowledge of all areas of procurement including:
- Procurement execution
- Estimating
- Expediting
- Offsite supplier quality, and
- Site purchasing
- Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
