Position: Cleaning & Tenant Services Coordinator
Program: Tenant Services
Reporting to: Intake & Tenant Navigation Lead
Status: Full-Time, Permanent
Position Summary
The Cleaning & Tenant Services Coordinator is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment across Wings’ second-stage shelter buildings. This role ensures all common areas; offices, and residential units are consistently maintained to high cleanliness and safety standards.
In addition to cleaning responsibilities, this position plays a key role in supporting tenant transitions by preparing units for move-in, coordinating unit set-ups, and working closely with the Tenant Services Team to ensure families have access to essential household items and a dignified start in their new space.
This role supports the overall functioning of the Family Wellness & Empowerment Program (FWEP) by ensuring the physical environment promotes safety, stability, and well-being for women and children healing from family violence.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Cleaning & Maintenance
· Perform daily and weekly cleaning of common areas, offices, hallways, and shared spaces
· Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors throughout the buildings
· Clean and sanitize all high-touch surfaces (doors, railings, counters, etc.)
· Clean windows, walls, and other surfaces as required
· Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas and supply rooms
· Maintain general cleanliness and upkeep of outdoor spaces and property
· Other duties as required.
Washroom & Hygiene Management
· Clean, disinfect, and restock all staff/ program use washrooms daily
· Monitor supply levels (soap, paper products, sanitizer) and notify for replenishment
· Ensure hygiene standards are maintained in alignment with health and safety protocols
Unit Cleaning, Turnover & Set-Up
· Remove unnecessary furniture and garbage from units as they become vacant
· Complete full cleaning of units during move-outs and prior to new tenant move-ins
· Ensure units are sanitized, safe, and ready for occupancy
· Support unit set-up including furniture arrangement and building, basic household items, and supplies
· Identify and report maintenance issues or damages to the Facilities & Maintenance Supervisor
· Support timely turnover of units, particularly during high-volume periods (month-end/beginning)
Tenant Services Support
· Work closely with the Intake & Tenant Navigation Lead and Case Management team to prepare units for incoming families
· Assist with organizing and distributing household items, linens, and essential supplies
· Support maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies and basic household goods
· Support tenants on an as needed basis with routine unit cleaning by providing trauma-informed and practical assistance to those experiencing physical or mental health challenges that impact their ability to maintain their living space.
· Contribute to a welcoming and dignified move-in experience for families
Health, Safety & Compliance
· Follow all Wings health and safety policies and infection prevention protocols
· Ensure the safe handling, storage, and use of cleaning products in accordance with WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety legislation, and organizational policies and procedures.
· Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
· Report hazards, safety concerns, or incidents promptly
Qualifications & Requirements
· Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
· Valid WHMIS certification
· Previous experience in housekeeping, janitorial, or facility cleaning
· Experience working in residential, shelter, or community-based settings is an asset
· First Aid Certification
· Criminal Record Check
· Vulnerable Sector and Child Welfare Check
· Class 5 license and access to reliable vehicle with minimum $2M Liability Insurance
· Must adhere to Code of Conduct Policy, respect confidentiality and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
· Ability to work afternoons/ evenings

· Strong understanding of cleanliness, sanitation, and infection control practices
· Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
· Physically able to perform cleaning duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
· Understanding of confidentiality and respectful service delivery in a trauma-informed environment
· Non-judgmental and aligned with trauma-informed principles.
Hours of Work
· Monday–Friday: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, flexibility may be required to meet business and client needs. 37.5 Hours per week.
