Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will assist in providing exceptional patient care, support ophthalmologists during examinations, and ensure the smooth operation of the ophthalmology practice. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic clinical environment, utilizing both technical skills and compassionate patient interaction.
Duties
- Operate OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) imaging. No prior experience with this equipment required — full training provided.
- Conduct diagnostic testing ahead of ophthalmologist visits
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR) systems to accurately document patient information, test results, and treatment plans.
- Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient check-in/check-out processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, adhering to infection control protocols.
Experience
- Prior experience in a medical office setting is preferred, especially within ophthalmology or optometry practices.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems such as Plexia is highly desirable.
- Experience with patient care activities, including taking vital signs and explaining procedures to patients.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to eye health is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients of all ages, including the elderly.
- Previous front desk or administrative experience in a healthcare setting is beneficial but not required. This role requires a compassionate approach to patient care combined with technical proficiency in ophthalmic procedures and record management. The successful candidate will be committed to supporting the clinical team while delivering excellent service to our patients.
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
