POSITION: Associate, Corporate Finance
LOCATION: Toronto (M5C 3G7)
We are currently seeking an Associate to join our Corporate Finance team. In this role, the successful candidate is expected to support the Director, Corporate Finance in the development and maintenance of internal models, participate in the M&A process, and prepare analyses for senior management. Our team takes great pride in providing actionable recommendations in a timely manner as markets and competitive dynamics evolve.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Update internal financial model to reflect new business lines, products and acquisitions
Develop, update and maintain detailed financial models on industry participants
Report findings and analyses, as well as create and deliver presentations for senior management
Participate in corporate development and M&A processes, including modelling, valuation and due diligence
Conduct industry and macro-economic research, and disseminate/present to team members and senior management
Assist with analysis and preparation of KPIs for management reporting
Contribute to preparation of quarterly reporting materials
Assist with ad-hoc projects, presentations and initiatives as assigned
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
Undergraduate degree in business/finance/accounting; master’s degree is an asset
CFA or CPA designation, or working towards one
Minimum 5 years relevant work experience in the wealth management or asset management industry, or at least 2 years in investment banking, as a financial analyst/associate or equivalent role
Fluent in finance and accounting concepts and financial modelling, with an understanding of economic factors affecting valuation
Strong knowledge of corporate finance and capital markets
Ability to create, update, and manage financial models and value companies independently and communicate findings clearly and concisely
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with exceptional attention to detail
Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage conflicting priorities
Superior written and verbal communication skills, including comfort and confidence interacting with and presenting to senior management and executives
Strong work ethic, ability to learn and work independently as well as part of a team
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and experience with other Microsoft Office products. Experience with Excel Macros and VBA coding preferred
Familiarity with Bloomberg terminal and functions
