Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated legal assistant to join our growing team. The successful candidate will have strong administrative skills, excellent attention to detail, exceptional writing skills, and a genuine interest in using technology to improve efficiency and client service.
In this role, the legal assistant will be responsible for providing essential support to our partners and associates and contribute meaningfully to our diverse practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare correspondence, briefs, affidavits, motions, and other documents
- Arrange for filing and service of court documents
- Liaise with clients and other related parties
- Track and calendar critical dates, such as filing deadlines and limitation periods
- Collect and organize evidence/legal documents for review and case preparation
- File management and document administration
- Assist counsel in preparing for and attending court
- Perform other legal administrative tasks as required
Required Knowledge & Experience
- A strong sense of urgency and attention to detail
- Strong proficiency with cloud-based applications and electronic filing systems
- A high level of initiative
- Resourceful and perceptive with a willingness to learn
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Civil litigation process - understanding the stages from pleadings to trial
- Court rules and procedures, particularly the Rules of Civil Procedure and relevant court forms
