The Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies (LA&PS) is the largest Faculty at York University with over 23,000 undergraduate and graduate students, and almost 100 programs delivered through 24 Departments, Schools, and Colleges, plus the IBM Markham Learning Site. Through innovative course design, diverse experiential education and learning opportunities, and a supportive community environment, our students receive the education they need to create big ideas that have an impact on the world.Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Student Academic Advising Services (SAAS) and guided by the National Academic Advising Association's (NACADA) and York University's Advising Core Competencies, the New Student Enrolment Assistant supports students and facilitates LA&PS students' academic, personal, and professional success as they transition in, through and out of the academic program and university experience. The New Student Enrolment Assistant supports the development, implementation and evaluation of new student enrolment activities and acts in a support role for the Advising Coordinator, New Student Success & Enrolment. In addition, the New Student Enrolment Assistant also provides support for the student employee group (peer enrolment assistants) for the Student Success & Academic Advising Centre. The New Student Enrolment Assistant works in communicates with students, faculty and staff within the Dean's Office, academic units, the Registrar's Office, and the Division of Students, and across the University to provide an excellent academic advising experience for LA&PS' students.The New Student Enrolment Assistant will also support the vision, mission, values and strategic direction of the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies and York University, and will contribute to a professional, positive, supportive, and student-focused team environment of high performance, respect, trust, collaboration, and continuous improvement that embraces diversity and fosters inclusion.
College diploma required or an equivalent of 2 years recent experience (defined as within the last three years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.
Two (2) years relevant experience working in a student services environment. Experience working in an office environment with front desk reception experience would be considered an asset.
