North Star Contracting is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Equipment Operator to join our growing Shallow Utilities division in Calgary and surrounding areas.
As part of our underground utility team, you will play a key role in the safe and efficient installation of water, sewer, storm, and gas infrastructure. We value experienced operators who take pride in their work, operate equipment with precision, and contribute to a strong team culture.

The Role
You will operate heavy equipment on water, sewer, storm, and gas main projects while working closely with our Foreman and crew.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate excavators, loaders, backhoes, and other equipment
- Support trenching, pipe installation, backfill, and compaction
- Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance
- Work as part of a team to meet production targets
- Maintain high safety standards on site
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience operating excavators and related equipment in civil construction
- Experience in underground utilities preferred
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (Class 3 an asset)
- CSTS 2020, Ground Disturbance, and other safety tickets preferred
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Pay: $1.00-$2.00 per hour
