The Opportunity
We are seeking a certified teacher-instructor to lead our Childcare Worker program. This role is responsible for preparing students for the Level 1 Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certification exam through a blend of classroom theory and practical field experience.
Requirements
The successful candidate will be an experienced instructor with a deep understanding of the childcare industry, Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB), and Workplace Skills for Success. We are looking for someone who can effectively bridge the gap between classroom education and professional employment for our learners.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Core Responsibilities
Instruction & Assessment: Deliver professional training using established curriculum and materials; manage both ongoing (formative) and final (summative) student evaluations.
Career Preparedness: Collaborate with the student services team to provide comprehensive employment support, including resume building, interview coaching, and networking strategies.
Skill Development: Lead workshops focused on "Skills for Success" and essential workplace competencies.
Certification Oversight: Organize and facilitate required safety certification training for all program participants.
Field Support: Provide guidance and mentorship to students during their practical field experience phase.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Education or a comparable degree (international credentials should include a recognized Canadian equivalency assessment).
Licensing: Must hold a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or Interim Professional Certification (IPC).
Experience: At least 2 years of classroom teaching experience is required.
Preferred Assets: A TESL/TESOL certification or a background in Early Childhood Education (ECE) is highly valued.
Knowledge & Professional Skills
Adult Education: Strong grasp of instructional design and adult learning principles.
Software Proficiency: Skilled in using both Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Communication: Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and verbal/written communication skills.
Cultural Competence: Demonstrated sensitivity and awareness when working with diverse populations.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with workplace safety standards and essential employment skills.
