The Skilled Handyman is a hands-on tradesperson responsible for finishing and repair work throughout the final stages of construction. This role is built around real tool-in-hand work — drywall repairs and patching, caulking and silicone work, trim, and paint touch-ups — that gets suites and common areas ready for residents to move in at our new community, The Oliver, located in St. Catharines, ON.
Key Responsibilities
- Repair and patch drywall throughout suites, common areas, and exteriors
- Apply caulking and silicone around tubs, showers, counters, windows, and trim for a clean, finished look
- Install and fit trim, baseboards, and casing
- Complete paint touch-ups to match existing finishes
- Adjust doors, windows, and hardware so everything opens, closes, and locks properly
- Complete minor framing, blocking, and backing as required
- Handle general punch-list and cosmetic repairs to keep units and common areas on schedule for occupancy
- Work through daily task lists and repair priorities alongside the Site Superintendent
- Flag and note any issues that come up while working so they can be tracked and followed up on
- Help prep suites and common areas for final walkthroughs and turnover
- Follow all company health and safety policies and keep a safe, tidy work area
Qualifications and Experience

Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on residential or commercial construction/finishing experience

Strong drywall repair and patching skills

Solid experience with caulking and silicone work

Comfortable with trim carpentry, paint touch-ups, and general fix-it repairs

General understanding of residential construction methods and materials

Ability to read basic drawings and specifications

Good attention to detail and pride in a clean, finished result

Able to work independently and stay on task with minimal supervision

Valid Class G Driver's Licence
Preferred Qualifications

Red Seal Carpenter or equivalent trade certification considered an asset

Working at Heights, WHMIS, and First Aid/CPR certifications
