Construction Fence Installation Lead Hand
Position Summary
The Construction Fence Installation Lead Hand is responsible for leading a crew in the safe, efficient, and professional installation, relocation, maintenance, and removal of temporary construction fencing at customer sites. The Lead Hand serves as the primary field representative of the company, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, equipment is properly maintained, and customer expectations are met.
Key Responsibilities
Crew Leadership
- Lead and supervise fence installation crews on daily job assignments.
- Provide direction, training, and mentorship to crew members.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company safety policies.
- Conduct daily tailgate meetings and site hazard assessments.
Fence Installation & Removal
- Install, repair, relocate, and remove temporary construction fencing, gates, privacy screens, and related products.
- Read site plans and layout fencing according to customer requirements.
- Ensure installations meet company quality standards and applicable site regulations.
- Troubleshoot field issues and make adjustments as required.
Equipment & Vehicle Management
- Operate company trucks, trailers, forklifts, skid steers, and other equipment safely.
- Perform daily vehicle and equipment inspections.
- Report maintenance requirements and equipment deficiencies.
- Ensure tools and materials are organized and secured.
Customer Service
- Act as the primary on-site contact for customers, contractors, and site supervisors.
- Communicate project status, schedule changes, and site issues professionally.
- Maintain a positive company image through professional conduct and workmanship.
Administrative Duties
- Complete daily work orders, inspection reports, and timesheets accurately.
- Track inventory, materials, and equipment usage.
- Report completed work and field observations to management.
Qualifications
- Previous crew leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to tow trailers and operate equipment safely.
- Strong understanding of construction site safety practices.
- Ability to read site drawings and follow project specifications.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs regularly.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Frequent bending, lifting, walking, and manual labor.
- Ability to work extended hours as required by project schedules.
