GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Models academic and professional leadership, and passion for teaching and learning

Contributes to the creation and maintenance of a learner-centered environment where adults can develop to their full potential

Ensures that facilitation is current, relevant and reflective of best practices within the professional/program disciplines

Creates an effective environment for learning, which accommodates students' diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences and individual learning styles

Teaches in a variety of formats - classroom, online and blended venues

Applies appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and assessing student learning

Uses the SSC Instructor Assessment tool provided to guide teaching practices Models adult learning principles when condensed facilitation of content is required Incorporates appropriate educational technologies into the learning process

Offers assistance to other faculty and staff Assists course development and revision.

LOGISTICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Facilitates learning using only pre-authorized or Sprott-Shaw materials

Ensures that learners are aw_are of course and program learning outcomes, learning strategies and evaluation techniques; provides individual tutoring and academic counseling; and evaluates student progress/_achievement within assigned courses

Provides electronic Instructor Course Content assessment at the end of every course as required by evaluation/course content review procedures and ensures that every student evaluates the course

Organizes and is responsible for instructor materials

Assesses learning achievement according to guidelines provided

Follows procedures for administering, recording grades and filing of assessments, recording, and reporting attendance

Assures that classrooms and labs are left in a clean and orderly fashion at the end of class

Attends faculty meetings and in-service training Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor of Arts and/_or Post Baccalaureate – Applied Behavioral Analysis; or, Five y_ears' experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post-secondary level or demonstrated success with equivalent experience in industry

Developed and delivered courses using current instructional methodologies such as: cooperative and collaborative learning, case-based learning, problem-based learning, and experiential learning

Demonstrated ability to work with people in a wide range of classrooms and other work settings, including cross-cultural environments

Experience managing instructors and/or programs/projects in education or other work settings

Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning

Results shown through collaboration that engaged partnerships and matrixes team environments

Experience teaching and/or instructional designing in online and/or blended environments considered a strong asset

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Salary: $25.00 /hour

  • Special Education: 2 years (Preferred)

Education:

  • AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (Preferred)
