Job Description
The Health and Safety Advisor will work out of our site in Hamilton, ON and will be responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and overseeing activities related to the prevention of workplace accidents and occupational health and safety for the sites under their scope.
What you're responsible for:

Supporting the continual development of the H&S culture with all managers and employees.

Advising, collaborating, and supporting managers regarding related strategical H&S initiatives, programs, procedures, and tools.

Performing regular inspections of workplace and work practices to ensure that safety rules and regulatory requirements are respected.

Performing occupational risk analysis and proposes preventive measures.

Conducting investigations and analyzes work related accidents with managers.

Supporting and auditing the adequacy and effectiveness of preventive measures.

Participating and collaborating with regulatory and third parties for inspections or investigations, fire services, etc.).

Responding to employees and internal / external customers’ occupational health and safety information requests.

Planning and performing internal and external training sessions and monitor completion of mandatory H&S trainings.

Tracking and reporting on various H&S metrics and key indicators.

Conducting and assisting with orientation sessions for new hires and participate in on-boarding activities as required.

Supporting the rollout of corporate/H&S programs, policies, and other initiatives.

Advising site Joint Health and Safety Committee.

Performing other related tasks related to H&S duties, as assigned.

Minimally traveling to support vacations and the roll out of new sites as needed.
Qualifications
To join our team:

You have a college or university certificate in H&S or related course
-
You have 2-3 years of experience in a similar position
-
You have strong knowledge of Ontario’s laws and regulations pertaining to occupational H&S
-
You have excellent written and oral communication skills
-
You have analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to think outside the box

You have excellent planning, organization, and adaptation skills
-
You have strong attention to detail
-
You are able to maintain multiple files concurrently
-
You are autonomous, take initiative, and have a developed customer approach
-
You are experienced in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)

You are able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in high-pressure situations

You maintain discretion, confidentiality, and diplomacy in everything you do

You hold a valid G driver's license.
Additional Information
What we offer:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000; however, compensation may vary based on experience and qualifications
