Please note: This position is not fly in/fly out or rotational shift. This role requires the ability to be mobile/temporarily relocate within the province of Ontario, as work sites and project durations vary. Experience in building/rehabilitating heavy civil transportation infrastructure (often involving water, such as bridges, canals, dams, culverts, cofferdams and similar) is also preferred.

Job SummaryReporting to the site Superintendent or Project Manager, the Heavy Equipment Operator specializes in safely operating heavy equipment such as, but not limited to bulldozers, excavators, dump trucks, loaders, graders, packers, telehandlers, skid steers and various other pieces of equipment on a construction site.
Work Conditions· 10 hours shift Monday to Friday, 10-4 rotation (10 days on, 4 days off)· Some weekend work is therefore required· Mobility for various assignments in Ontario; immediate deployment to North Bay· Willingness and ability to work overtime if necessary to deliver the project on time
Responsibilities· Operate different equipment for various jobs such as, but not limited to bulldozers, excavators, dump trucks, loaders, graders, packers, telehandlers, skid steers and various other pieces of equipment as required· Maintain the equipment safety and ensure proper operator maintenance of the machinery is conducted regularly· Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment· Take a leading role in the execution of earthworks projects· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications requiredEducation· High school diploma· Completion of required heavy equipment training/certification· Trade certification is an asset
Certifications / licenses· Valid Ontario DZ Driver's Licence or equivalent· First aid with CPR· Ontario AZ license is an asset· IHSA Basics of Supervision is an asset
Experience and Knowledge· 3+ years of experience in operating heavy equipment· 3+ years of experience with culvert installations up to 2.4 meters in diameter· Multi-operator is an asset
