We're Hiring: Design Technician – Greater Toronto Area
Ready for a new challenge? Advanced Energy Management Ltd. is seeking a Design Technician in the Greater Toronto Area. The office is located in Oakville, Ontario.
Position Summary:
The Design Technician is responsible for developing detailed HVAC control system designs for commercial building automation systems. This role focuses on producing accurate wiring diagrams, schematics, and drawing packages based on project specifications and engineering drawings. The Design Technician works closely with project managers, programmers, and field teams to ensure designs are clear, complete, and aligned with project requirements
What You’ll Be Doing:
· Interpret mechanical and electrical plans and develop building management system designs accordingly.
· Create control schematics, wiring diagrams, and sequence of operations, using AutoCAD.
· Produce and maintain working drawings following company standards.
· Complete As-builts and update drawings to reflect changes and ensure accuracy through quality reviews.
· Organize, label, and prepare drawing packages in a timely manner.
What We’re Looking For:
· Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering Technology, Building Systems/Controls, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field.
· 3–5 years of experience in electrical or control system design
· Strong understanding of wiring diagrams, control schematics, and building automation systems (BAS)
· Hands-on experience with AutoCAD for electrical/control drawings
· Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings/specifications
· HVAC and building controls experience is a strong asset.
· Strong hands-on knowledge of HVAC systems and building controls
· Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) platforms such as Honeywell, Reliable, Niagara, or similar
· Ability to work independently with a higher level of technical proficiency, particularly in a remote or less supervised environment
· Prior experience designing or supporting advanced HVAC and control solutions is highly desirable
· Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
