Job Summary
Since 2000, over $160 million dollars has been raised in support of Southlake Regional Health Centre. Southlake Foundation has a new 5-year strategic plan fully aligned with the hospital’s and we are ready to work with our investors to build healthy communities and shape the future of healthcare. Working with members of the community, hundreds of volunteers, the Southlake Family and our incredible donors, Southlake Foundation will support life-saving medical equipment, infrastructure upgrades and expansions, patient programs and staff education, all for the goal of providing leading edge care, close to home. Southlake Foundation is setting the stage for important fundraising growth to support the patients and families who rely on Southlake for excellent care.

The Position

Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation has an exciting new opportunity for the right individual to fulfill a 7-month part-time (3-5 days/week) contract to deliver all aspects of the 2020 Run for Southlake while helping to bring world-class healthcare close to home for our communities of York and South Simcoe Regions.
Reporting to the Vice President, Marketing & Donor Experience, the Events Officer (contract) provides critical leadership to deliver the Run for Southlake, a premier community run in support of Southlake Foundation. Leading a team of volunteers and with the support of the Events Assistant, the Events Officer will work closely with team leaders and participants to maximize peer-to-peer fundraising, and activate sponsors to deliver a memorable event experience. The successful candidate projects a ‘can do’ attitude, takes initiative and has incredible attention to detail. They are versatile, highly organized and can manage multiple, competing priorities in a results focused, fast-paced office.
Duties
  • Work with volunteers, team leads, participants, donors, Foundation and Hospital Staff to meet and exceed ambitious fundraising goals.
  • Lead colleagues in the delivery of a peer-to-peer fundraising strategy focused on team recruitment and the activation of participants for fundraising.
  • Deliver creative and relevant sponsor activations during the event.
  • Work closely with agencies and representatives of Town, Region, Police and transit to deliver event within defined budget.
  • Anticipate necessary communication, cooperation and coordination with organizers, volunteers, staff, sponsors, participants, and donors.
  • Prepare and deliver reports and event updates based on performance metrics.
  • Maintain an efficient record-keeping system utilizing our donor database (Raiser’s Edge).
Qualifications
  • Exceptional event planning skills are essential, with experience in peer-to-peer fundraising a definite asset.
  • 3-5 years of experience working in fundraising and special events required, with demonstrated experience executing high-profile fundraising events, preferably with a health-related charitable organization.
  • Excellent budget, project management and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency working with computer applications on a Windows platform (Word, Excel, Power Point, electronic mail/scheduling, internet).
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and be self-motivated in a high pressure and demanding work environment.
  • Proven ability to exercise diplomacy and good judgment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the mission and values of Southlake Foundation.
  • Car and valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work flexible work hours as required.
