Brockport Home Systems Ltd. is looking for an HEALTH & SAFETY COORDINATOR to join our growing team in Toronto. The position of Health & Safety Coordinator is the primary role.
Health & Safety Job Responsibilities:
- Oversees and coordinates initiatives to promote Health & Safety in the workplace.
- Verifies certifications are obtained and monitors for compliance for people and/or equipment.
- Generates H&S statistics and provides reports to Management.
- Strong production floor presences to ensure safe work practices are being followed. Recommended coaching/disciplinary action to Supervisor when violations are noticed.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Provincial H&S legislation and regulations including MTO, MOL, WSIB requirements and guidelines.
- Partner with Human Resources on issues related to investigations and return to work planning.
- Manage and update MSDS.
- Participate with the JHSC and prepare meeting minutes.
- Complete regular audit of programs to ensure compliance.
- Load securement/transportation compliance.
Governance, WSIB and Return to Work, Claims Management:
- Manage with follow-up on audit recommendations to ensure all items have been completed on-time and assist with removing any barriers to completion.
- Support plant management to ensure the early and safe return to work for injured employees.
- Support ongoing claims management processes and communication at plant level
Safety Training:
Develop / Train / Coordinate safety related training modules and programs reflective of applicable legislative requirements and corporate safety policies, procedures and practices.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety.
- CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in a safety role, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills with ability to articulate with accuracy and detail.
- Current knowledge of the OHS Regulation, Regulations for Industrial Establishments, MTO, MOL, WSIB Regulations and Requirements.
- Ability to work an occasional afternoon shift.
- Detail-oriented and good time management skills.
