ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge& Skills)
- Current Certification of Competence as a Registered Practical Nurse with the Ontario College of Nurses.
- Current BCLS certification.
- 2 years hospital nursing experience within the past 3 years.
- 2 years recent rehabilitation experience.
- 2 years recent stroke experience.
- 2 years surgical experience.
- Certificate in Gerontology
- 1 year Geriatric experience within the past 3 years.
- Catheterization, aseptic techniques.
-Computer Skills - Intranet, Microsoft Office, Care Manager, STAR, Solcom,
Risk Monitor Pro.
- Practice level consistent with the full scope of practice as outlined by the College of
Nurses of Ontario, which includes but is not limited to:
- Evidence of the successful, administration and management of blood &
blood products
- Evidence of the successful completion and/or practice in processing physician
orders, administration of oral, subcutaneous, IM, suppository, aerosol and
IV medications, venipuncture and IV initiation and management
- Demonstrated adherence to the expectations of nursing practice at CKHA
- Familiarity with MDS Chronic Care Assessment Tool preferred.
- Fundamentals in Palliative Care preferred
- Member of RPNAO preferred
