Job Description & Summary

A career in our Actuarial Life Services practice, within Actuarial Services, will provide you with the opportunity to contribute general insurance advice and consulting services to clients such as insurers, banks, regulators, and third party administrators. You’ll provide advice covering solvency, economic capital, risk management, mergers and acquisitions, company restructuring and risk control, financial modelling, underwriting, new legislation, and the efficiency of claims or reporting processes. Simply put, you might help analyse the impact that new regulation will have on an insurance company’s balance sheet or you could be revising businesses’ projections and making sure they have adequate reserves.

Our team helps insurers address new financial reporting requirements by assessing the financial and business impacts of regulations, building implementation plans, and implementing relevant requirements, particularly across areas of financial reporting change.

As a Senior Associate, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution .

Responsibilities include :
Support actuarial product teams in a broad range of consulting services and audit support assignments
Provide audit support on life insurance companies to consulting engagements on IFRS 17 implementations, strategy, modernization, model governance and a variety of other consulting work
Work on system implementations and model enhancements to AXIS
Work directly with other actuaries on a variety of projects, including cross-functional projects with other departments within PwC
Excellent problem-solving skills to provide solutions to potential problems
Strong analytical skills to develop new ideas and propose innovative solutions
Client facing, work towards leading your own engagements and approach them all as a team
Collaborate, plan and execute projects with people outside of your core discipline within defined timelines
Coach to help deliver results
Use straightforward communication, in a structured way, when influencing others
Use feedback and reflection to develop self-awareness, personal strengths and address development areas

Requirements:
An interest in upskilling for a digital world and technology trends, an openness to learning new tools and adapting how you work

Over 3 years of experience in the life insurance industry in the areas of IFRS valuation, segregated funds, participating products or product development

Current or prior experience in Life Insurance or Corporate Actuarial
Graduate or higher education in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics or related quantitative discipline
Pursuing the Canadian Institute of Actuaries qualification of FCIA or recent FCIA
Knowledge of actuarial tools like Moody’s GGY AXIS, Milliman Actuarial Software Solutions, Prophet, Moses
Knowledge of IFRS 17
Knowledge of stochastic modeling for insurance or annuity products
Knowledge of SAS, R, SQL
Bilingual in French & English is an asset
