We are currently seeking a contract Pharmacist to join our team in Burnaby for approximately 12-months.
Starting rate of pay: $50-$55/per hour to commensurate with experience.
SCHEDULE:

37.5 hours per week (5 days/week)

Business hours are Monday to Friday 8 am – 4 pm

Closed weekends and statutory holidays.

Requirement to complete afterhours on-call work on a rotational basis

JOB DESCRIPTION
This position holds primary responsibility for coordinating daily supervision of all activities involved in providing medications to patients in accordance with established corporate procedures and provincial pharmacy laws. The Pharmacist is responsible for controlling processes to ensure that all products meet both professional and corporate standards of accuracy and quality. In addition, supervise technical staff and coordinate pharmacy activities with distribution and order entry. Communicate with clients regarding pharmacy services and clarify issues with physicians, nurses and other pharmacists.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate all activities related to prescription dispensing, including:

Supervise all activities related to the dispensing of product to ensure that the pharmacy complies with provincial and federal regulations governing the practice of pharmacy.

Ensure appropriate clinical functions are completed including patient counseling, appropriate documentation, pharmaceutical care etc.

Direct and prioritize the production process utilizing professional knowledge to recognize critical patient needs. Utilize the pharmaceutical literature and Calea Standard Operating Procedures as the basis for judgment of pharmacy issues relating to the compounding of admixtures.

Ensure S.O.P. or policy and procedure requirements are incorporated into daily procedures and correctly followed by staff in the execution of all duties.

Establish, validate and maintain quality assurance procedures, and records.

Observe and assess the equipment, materials and procedures used in the facility and recommend changes where appropriate.

Assist in production activities (i.e., compounding of product) when the workload requires.

Participate in departmental clinical and quality improvement initiatives.

Engages in or supervises drug preparation activities

Ensures quality of drug preparation through Compliance with Fresenius Kabi Compounding Standards
QUALIFICATIONS
-
Minimum university undergraduate degree in pharmacy.

Licensed to practice in the province of British Columbia by the BC College of Pharmacists.

Minimum two years recent hands-on homecare or clinical experience required. IV experience or prior experience in a hospital or outpatient setting an asset, but not required.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities under pressure. Ability to handle multiple demands made simultaneously under short time constraints

Strong interpersonal skills with all levels of staff and management both internally and externally

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with an exceptional telephone manner

Knowledge of computer systems and well-developed keyboarding skills

Certification to administer injections is an asset, but not required.

Experience working with Kroll is preferred, although not necessary.
