For more than 25 years, Lester Communications has helped associations, industries and businesses tell their stories through award-winning magazines, digital publications, websites, email marketing and content marketing programs. We work primarily in the construction, infrastructure, engineering and business sectors, producing both print and digital communications for clients across Canada and the United States.
We’re looking for a talented Publication & Digital Designer who is equally comfortable designing long-form print publications and supporting digital communications initiatives.
About the Role
This position combines traditional graphic design responsibilities with supporting digital production work. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and production of magazines, directories and marketing materials while also assisting with website content management, email marketing and digital asset creation.
This is an ideal opportunity for a designer who enjoys working across multiple platforms and wants to continue expanding their digital skill set.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and produce magazines, directories and other long-form publications
- Develop layouts that balance strong visual storytelling with readability and editorial integrity
- Prepare files for print production and coordinate with printers when required
- Update and manage website content through content management systems
- Build and format email newsletters and marketing campaigns
- Maintain brand consistency across print and digital channels
- Collaborate with editors, writers and sales staff to bring projects from concept to completion
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced publishing environment
Qualifications
Required:
- Diploma or degree in graphic design, multimedia design or a related field
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator
- Experience designing long-form publications such as magazines, books, annual reports or similar editorial products
- Strong typography, layout and production skills
- Experience working with content management systems such as WordPress
- Experience using email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp or Constant Contact
- Working knowledge of CSS or a strong demonstrated interest in developing CSS skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
Assets:
- HTML knowledge
- Experience with digital publication platforms
- Basic understanding of website design principles and user experience
- Photography, illustration or motion graphics experience
- Experience working in publishing, media or agency environments

Work Arrangement
This position is based in our Winnipeg office. Following the successful completion of the probationary period, employees may transition to a hybrid work arrangement that combines in-office and remote work.
