About the Role
As a Barista and Counter Service team member, you’ll be responsible for preparing drinks, serving food, maintaining a clean workspace, and delivering warm, professional hospitality. This is a guest-facing role with shared duties between barista service, order taking, food prep support, and general front-of-house operations.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience
Greet all guests with enthusiasm, professionalism, and a genuine desire to help.
Support scanning and selling tickets and learning the Squamish Canyon offerings.
Helping guests efficiently, offering clear communication and helpful suggestions.
Provide product knowledge (beverages, food items, allergen info) and support dietary accommodations.
Keep counters, self-serve areas, and seating zones clean and welcoming.
Food & Beverage Duties
Ensure stations are set up and restocked for the day
Ensure consistency, speed of service, and presentation.
Restock syrups, milks, and supplies as needed throughout the shift.
Counter & Café Operations
Assist with food and pastry handling, heating, and presentation.
Operate the POS system for sales, returns, and daily cash handling.
Follow all food safety and sanitation protocols.
Help with opening and closing tasks, including cleaning, stocking, and waste management.
Qualifications
Prior experience in customer service, food service, or barista work is an asset—but not required.
Outgoing and friendly with strong communication skills.
Able to multitask and stay composed under pressure.
Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented.
Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs safely.
Asset Qualifications (Nice to Have)
FOODSAFE Level 1 and/or Serving It Right certification.
Familiarity with espresso machines or point-of-sale systems.
First Aid (OFA Level 1).
Fluency in a second language.
Work Conditions
Flexible availability including weekends, holidays, and morning/afternoon shifts.
Indoor café environment with occasional outdoor crossover (e.g., events, lineups).
High guest volume during peak hours; must be comfortable moving quickly.
