Glen Eden Ski & Snowboard Centre is seeking a passionate and experienced Head Coach, Competitive Programs – Technical to lead the delivery and development of competitive alpine ski racing programs in partnership with the Milton Heights Racing Club (MHRC). Reporting to the Coordinator, Recreation Programs and working closely with the MHRC Board and Administrative Head Coach, this leadership role is responsible for athlete development, coach mentorship, program quality, and on-hill safety. The successful candidate will be a skilled coach, leader, and ambassador for both Glen Eden and MHRC, fostering a positive, high-performance environment for athletes, coaches, and families while supporting the continued growth of competitive ski racing programs.
- Lead the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of competitive alpine ski racing programs, training plans, camps, and race events.
- Oversee athlete development programs, ensuring coaching aligns with long-term athlete development principles and competitive program objectives.
- Recruit, mentor, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate a team of 10–20 coaches and instructors.
- Foster a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with risk management, Safe Sport, and organizational policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with MHRC leadership, Snow School staff, athletes, families, and external governing organizations to support program success and exceptional customer service.
- Works collaboratively with the Recreation Programs Resource Supervisor to support program delivery and respond to evolving operational needs.
- Coordinate on-hill training environments, race venues, equipment requirements, and effective use of terrain and facilities.
- Manage coaching schedules, support payroll administration, and contribute to program staffing, equipment, and operational budget planning.
- Act as a technical leader and ambassador at races and industry events, including serving as Chief of Race and other technical officiating roles as required.
- Maintain program equipment inventories and oversee off-season storage, maintenance, and renewal planning.
- Deliver clear communication and build positive relationships with athletes, families, coaches, volunteers, and stakeholders.
- Minimum 3 years of recent competitive ski coaching experience within a racing club environment.
- Current high-level coaching certification through Alpine Canada, the Canadian Ski Coaches Federation, the National Coaching Certification Program, or an equivalent recognized coaching organization.
- Minimum Alpine Ontario Officials Level II certification, current or willingness to obtain.
- Strong knowledge of current alpine ski racing, coaching methodologies, athlete development, and competitive program operations.
- Working knowledge of present Alpine Ontario, Alpine Canada, and FIS regulations and requirements.
- Understanding of current Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) principles and athlete progression models.
- Knowledge of Safe Sport practices, risk management, and safe program delivery in a competitive sports environment.
- Understanding of current provincial and international rules governing alpine ski racing.
- Strong leadership, team-building, mentoring, and performance management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage athletes, families, staff, volunteers, and stakeholders.
- Proven organizational, planning, and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in fast-paced, on-hill environments.
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to foster positive participant experiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and use organizational systems and software.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in varying winter weather conditions and safely lift and move equipment up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to maintain current alpine ski equipment suitable for day-to-day coaching activities.
- Successful candidates are required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSS) , to verify the absence of a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted (if over 18 years old). *Cost covered by Conservation Halton up to $30.00.
- A valid Ontario Drivers Licence, minimum Class “G ”, with a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract is required. *Abstract completed by Conservation Halton.
This leadership role is ideal for a passionate ski racing professional who thrives in an active, outdoor environment. The successful candidate will work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, holidays, and race events throughout the ski season.
