We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our operations team and help keep our fleet moving efficiently.
Job Overview
As a Dispatcher, you will play a key role in coordinating freight movements, communicating with drivers and customers, and ensuring shipments are delivered safely and on schedule. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess strong organizational skills, and be able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and dispatch loads to company drivers efficiently.
- Monitor shipments from pickup through delivery and proactively resolve issues.
- Coordinate with customers, brokers, warehouses, and drivers to ensure on-time service.
- Maintain accurate shipment records, dispatch logs, and required documentation.
- Communicate effectively by phone, email, and transportation management systems (TMS).
- Monitor driver hours, equipment availability, and route planning.
- Work closely with warehouse personnel to coordinate shipping and receiving schedules.
- Analyze freight movements and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
- Respond promptly to delays, breakdowns, weather events, or other service disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and applicable transportation laws.
- Provide excellent customer service while maintaining strong relationships with clients and drivers.
- Perform other dispatch and logistics duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in truck dispatch, logistics coordination, or transportation planning.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. trucking operations.
- Understanding of freight management, routing, and shipping/receiving procedures.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional phone etiquette and customer service skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and transportation management software.
- Accurate and efficient data entry skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Ability to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Loadlink, TMW, TruckMate, or other dispatch software is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and cross-border freight operations is an asset.
