Hartrans Cartage Services is a local Peterborough-based trucking company, offering local LTL cartage services as well as TL service, dedicated courier service and flatbed services to other carriers and local shippers.
We are currently looking for a part-time, customer-service focused driver for a dedicated school board delivery run. The position follows the school board calendar, operating 2 days per week from end of August to end of June, with breaks during the Christmas and March break school holidays. Shift starts at the school board office, loading shipments to be delivered to schools on a pre-set delivery run; and picking up shipments along the way for return to the school board office at the end of the day. The successful candidate will start at the end of August. For drivers who might wish additional hours there may be the possibility of additional work on non-school board days to deliver LTL - especially if they have straight-truck experience or experience driving with a utility trailer.
Job Requirements / Details:
- G licence with a clean driver abstract
- Minimum 3 years driving experience
- Load freight into delivery unit by hand (typically mailbags and small parcels, but some larger pieces on occasion)
- Ability to lift and carry shipments to/from truck (up to 50 lbs but typically far less)
- Complete all necessary paperwork
- Comfortable learning and using electronic smart devices.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong customer service focus
- Professional presentation, suitable for a school environment
- Use a cell phone to communicate with dispatch
- Perform all required equipment safety checks
- Experience with a cube van or straight truck is preferred.
