We currently have a great Intermediate System Integration & Test Engineer opportunity in Calgary, AB. You will be working as part of a team delivering a world class secure next-generation communications system for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in the United Kingdom. GDMS-C is working in partnership with General Dynamics Mission Systems-United Kingdom to design, develop, and deliver an exceptional Command, Control, Communications, Computing and Intelligence (C4I) system based on open architecture and industry standard principles.

We plan our work using Agile methodology, so you will participate in daily stand ups and backlog refinement. We work closely with our customers so communication and customer service are important to us.
If you were in the role today, here is what you could be working on:
Develop test cases and procedures that validate the system design.
Peer review your teammates’ test cases and automated testing code.
Execute testing in the lab environment; analyze, interpret and document results.
Write defects to convey the issue to the larger team, after identifying the root cause of the issue and collecting all logs and repeatable steps to recreate the failure.
Write test summaries and test reports to demonstrate progress and communicate results to wider audiences and interested parties.
Develop your own and maintain automated test tools and scripts generated by others, written primarily in Python.
Share knowledge and skills with other integration and test team members (within the program and across the business).
Travel for field trials and demonstrations
This role will be a combination of working remotely and onsite at our Calgary office. We have a number of measures in place for onsite working – our top priority remains the health and safety of our colleagues. Remote work can be accomodated were remote access to lab functions is available.
Candidates are required to have the below skills to be succesful:
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong problem solving and analysis skills.
Strong attention to detail and a natural interest in root cause analysis.
Enthusiastic contributor, willing to learn new skills, and takes pride and ownership of work.
Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment, with minimum supervision.
2+ years of practical experience, 1 year can be relevant co-op or internship experience.
Applicants are required to hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical/scientific area. Candidates with diplomas will be considered with adequate additional experience.
Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Interest/experience in any of the following areas is considered an asset:
Experience in defining, developing and executing integration tests for complex functionality, and understanding the interdependencies and interactions between subsystems, an asset.
Experience in the investigation, recommendations, and resolution of complex defects, an asset.
Knowledge and use of requirements management tools, an asset.
Low level networking (eg. routing, switching, RFC compliance testing), an asset.
Exposure to automated testing (eg. powershell / bash / python / robot framework), an asset.
Previous work with Linux system level services (eg.DNS, DHCP, Email) and Linux networking, an asset.
Understanding of web app development (eg. websockets, RESTful web services, selenium), an asset.
