Bilingual needed, Chinese and English
A 3 children family looking for a private education assistant, children are 9-13 years old.
As a family education assistant works with parents and school teachers to support children learning and tutoring:
- Translate school messages to parents understanding.
- Develop Learning Plans: Create a personalized learning plan based on the child’s progress and interests, breaking down complex tasks to improve completion rates.
- Join the school meeting with parents.
- Homework Assistance and Subject Support: Aid the child in completing daily assignments and provide extra support in key subjects, extra assessment/homework prepare .
- Regular Assessments: Conduct regular assessments to track learning outcomes, adjusting teaching methods as needed to meet academic goals.
- Role-Playing and Scenario Simulations: Use simulated scenarios to teach the child how to communicate and interact with others.
- Emotional Management: Help the child recognize, express, and manage emotions to reduce social anxiety and build confidence.
- Friendship-Building: Guide the child in understanding social rules, developing friendly relationships with peers, and improving cooperation and communication skills.
- Time Management: Guide the child in time allocation to help plan study and recreation time, gradually fostering self-discipline.
- Task Organization: Teach task organization and prioritization to help the child develop planning and organizational skills.
- Self-Care Skills: Assist, as needed, with cultivating independent life skills, like tidying their room or organizing their backpack, to enhance autonomy.
- Communication and Coordination with Parents and School/After school programs: regularly update parents on the child’s progress, challenges, and suggestions for improvement. Coordinate with teachers as needed to ensure a consistent educational approach between home and school for cohesive support.
- Listening and Guiding: Offer emotional support, act as a listener, and help the children cope with stress and setbacks.
- Setting a Positive Example: Model positive behaviors in interactions to instill responsibility and an optimistic outlook.
The assistant to holistically support the child’s growth, helping them improve academically, build social skills, and develop self-management abilities for well-rounded personal development.
Job Qualifications
- Excellent writing, reading, verbal and speaking communication skills in Chinese and English.
- Demonstrating a strong interest in education.
- Education or Special Education Degree: A background in education, special education, psychology, or a related field, to create personalized learning plans for different needs.
- Knowledgeable about autism spectrum characteristics and ADHD.
- Personalized Tutoring Experience: One-on-one tutoring or experience in individualized education, with the ability to adapt teaching methods to the child’s unique needs.
Position Requirements
- No criminal record.
- All applicants must be authorized to work in the Canada.

Full time work, 6-8 hours/day
Job Types: Full-time, Freelance
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
