This position is part of a dynamic team, the Medicine Strategic Clinical Network (MSCN), focused on improving the care and outcomes for patients in three Alberta Health Services care areas: hospital medicine, kidney care and respiratory care. The position supports the Senior Medical Director (SMD) of the Medicine Strategic Clinical Network and also provides high level and comprehensive administrative support for the network's quality improvement projects. This position has a strong understanding of the strategic direction of the Medicine Strategic Clinical Network and is considered an integral member of the network's administrative support team.
The primary roles of this position include: Provide guidance, identify areas of improvement and anticipate the needs of the MSCN to the SMD. Relieve the SMD of tasks within established limits (e.g. prioritizing, intercepting and redirecting or responding to inquiries; following up on information requests and action items to ensure successful completion). Provide administrative project level support for MSCN cross-cutting initiatives, as well as pan-SCN and AHS initiatives being lead by, or that the MSCN is partnering and supporting. Utilize available technology to optimize team functioning. Assess emerging issues to determine whether other stakeholders would need to be alerted and involved, make note of influences and urgency level. Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships. Organize, plan, and prioritize work: develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish the work of the MSCN. Communicate with persons outside the MSCN: represent the MSCN to customers, the public, and other external sources. Communication occurs in person, in writing or email, or virtually by telephone, Skype or Zoom. Document/record information: enter, transcribe, record, store, or maintain information in written or electronic form. Schedule work and activities. Work collaboratively with other administrative staff of the MSCN and other SCNs. Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.

A minimum of a high school diploma and an Administrative Assistant diploma or certificate, or equivalent post-secondary education is required. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.
Additional Required Qualifications:
In addition, the incumbent will possess a working knowledge and record of accomplishment in the following areas: Five years progressively responsible related experience is required. Alberta Health Services systems and processes and applicable provincial legislation, policies, and processes. General office policies and procedures including, but not limited to, financial and travel policies, Freedom of Information and Privacy (FOIP) and human resources. Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Skype for Business, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and experience with databases are essential) in order to respond to action requests, and to prepare and edit correspondence, and respond to stakeholder inquiries. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within a large, diverse organization. Ability to foster a climate of collaboration and cooperation amongst, and builds solid relationships with public agencies, government, boards, committees, and other stakeholders/partners. Ability to identify and independently execute on matters that can be successfully resolved without the direct involvement of the Senior Medical Director. Ability to manage resources in a changing environment with diverse, complex, and sensitive issues.
