We are looking for a passionate, creative leader with exceptional project management skills and experience designing retail spaces. Reporting directly to our Retail Expansion Manager, our ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the creative development and technical execution of our retail store design strategy. You will work independently and cross functionally with leasing, experiential designers, architects, construction & facilities managers, merchandising and retail operations departments to ensure our store aesthetic reflect our brand ethos and our store design supports day to day operations (form x function). You are organized yet creative, passionate about the details, and recognize that getting the best from others requires strong relationships and the ability to roll up your sleeves.
To sparkle in this role, you will:
Support the ongoing development of our retail store design strategy, ensuring the aesthetic & functionality of the retail store reflects our brand and enables store teams to maximize revenue. This includes store layout, fixture design, finish selection etc.
Develop repeatable & scalable tools and processes to support rapid growth and international expansion
Effectively collaborate with key functions of the business:
retail management, merchandising, marketing, events, human resources, finance, experiential design and retail operations, ensuring successful implementation of all functional store requirements & gather feedback to drive continuous improvement within store design
Lead, manage and deliver requirements from external partners or stakeholders including Landlords & municipalities to eliminate project roadblocks and risks ensuring all projects are in compliance with company, provincial or federal policies & regulations
Source, partner and coordinate with Architectural Consultants, Construction Managers and Vendors to ensure standards are upheld and the required specifications to achieve design excellence is delivered accurately and on time
Prepare a drawing set for each location (demolition plan, floor plan, interior & exterior elevations, paint and wall schedules etc)
Source and select materials specs
Lead design review meetings to ensure stakeholder alignment and to achieve ongoing improvement and redevelopment of our store design and act as the primary contact between Leasing & construction team members/contractors
Support a broad project scope including new, expansion, relocation, renovation, closure and pop up spaces
Manage multiple work streams from our internal cross functionals and external vendors, ensuring all deliverables are achieved on time & on budget
Perform site visits as required
Continuously seek to improve our design, systems, tools and processes
Our bright and shiny candidate has:
5+ years experience designing retail stores or hospitality
Proficient in autoCAD & other design applications as applicable
Excellent knowledge of the retail industry across North America and internationally
Is creative and stays ahead of design trends
An entrepreneurial spirit who thinks outside the box
Proven experience delivering large scale projects on time & budget
Detail-oriented and capable of managing projects with excellent follow through and accuracy
Able to identify opportunities and enjoys problem solvingAppreciates feedback and constantly strives to improve (never settles)
Discipline to be methodical and demonstrates excellent decision making
Excellent communication & organizational skills
Strong interpersonal skills (leads self)
