London & Middlesex Community Housing (LMCH) is seeking a passionate and hardworking Controller. The Controller plays a key role in ensuring the organization maintains accurate, timely, and compliant financial information to support effective decision-making and organizational sustainability. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Corporate Services, this position oversees financial operations, maintains strong internal controls, and ensures compliance with applicable regulations, accounting standards, and organizational policies.
As a leader within the Finance team, the Controller provides direction and support to a team of finance professionals, promoting accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The role is responsible for coordinating the timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial processes while supporting budgeting, reporting, audit activities, and other finance initiatives across the organization.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative and results-oriented finance professional with strong communication, decision-making, problem-solving, financial management, and systems control skills. They are able to build effective relationships, lead teams successfully, and deliver high-quality financial information that supports operational and strategic goals while ensuring responsible stewardship of organizational resources.

1. OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Director of Finance & Corporate Services, the Controller is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of LMCH’s financial operations, accounting, reporting, and internal control environment.
The Controller provides leadership and oversight of LMCH's finance operations, including accounting and financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, financial close, audit coordination, financial systems administration, and financial controls. The role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial information, maintaining compliance and governance standards, and supporting continuous improvement across the Finance function.
Leadership:
· The Controller will provide leadership and oversight, builds and manages a high-performance finance team through effective leadership, coaching, and mentorship.
· Organizes staff and oversees day-to-day departmental operations to ensure effective service delivery.
Financial Operations and Reporting:
· Lead day-to-day accounting operations and oversee accurate, timely financial reporting and period-end close.
· Ensure the integrity of financial data and compliance with internal controls
Audit and Compliance:
· Support coordination and preparation of the annual audit and ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory, and reporting requirements.
· Support the preparation of financial reports and governance reporting to leadership and the Board.
· Oversees regulatory remittances, leads their reconciliations and reporting.
Financial Systems and ERP Leadership:
· Acts as the Finance System Owner and Finance Super User for the organization.
· Lead and optimize financial systems, ensuring data integrity, efficient procedures, and effective reporting.
· Partner with IT to implement system enhancements and provide guidance to finance and operations staff.
Internal Controls and Risk Management:
· Strengthen internal controls, financial policies, and governance practices to support compliance and manage organizational risk.
· Maintain approval frameworks and promote sound financial stewardship.
Housing and Property Financial Administration:
· Oversee property-related financial procedures, including revenue, capital expenditures and asset-related financial data.
· Support the financial administration of mortgages, insurance, and housing operations.
Continuous Improvement and Organizational Support:
· Drive continuous improvement through process optimization, automation, and service excellence.
· Support strategic initiatives, financial analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to achieve organizational goals.
· Supports the Director of Finance & Corporate Services with financial analysis, reporting, and special projects.
3. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or related field or equivalent education.
· CPA designation or active enrolment in the CPA Professional Program (PEP) with a commitment to complete the designation.
· Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management including audit coordination and managing a finance team.
· Experience in a public sector, municipal, housing, or not-for-profit environment is an asset.
· Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset.
· Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP/PSAS and regulatory requirements.
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
· Experience within an ERP system, Yardi or similar property management system is an asset, including system administration or super-user experience.

5. POLICE RECORDS CHECK:
This position requires the successful candidate submit a current Police Records check from their local police service. A current LMCH employee who is the successful candidate for this position must also provide this document unless it is already on file and not more than one year old.
6. SALARY & BENEFITS:
Target salary range of $83,120.08 – $104,904.58 per annum; with comprehensive health benefits and OMERS pension plan.
