About this opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity for someone beginning their career as a Vegetation and Wetland Ecologist. It is a permanent, full-time position in our Calgary office, supporting our team on various projects throughout Alberta and western Canada. In this position you will collaborate and work with a team of vegetation ecologists, project managers and biologists to provide practical solutions to our clients.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
· Supporting vegetation surveys, including vegetation inventories, listed plant species surveys, and weed surveys across various ecoregions in western and northern Canada
· Supporting wetland classification surveys
· Preparing site plans and silviculture recommendations
· Conducting/assisting with data entry, analysis and technical reporting
· Traversing by foot and/or utility vehicle safely through remote, forested, and variable terrain
· Supporting other staff/projects within EDI
· Participating proactively in EDI’s health and safety program
We are looking for someone with:

Job requirements include:
· Diploma from an accredited institution in biology or related discipline(s); BSc degree preferred
· Registration or working towards registration as RPBio, PBiol or Pag
· Eligibility to work towards becoming an authenticating wetland professional
· A desire to learn field assessment skills; experience with the following considered assets:
- Plant identification
- Soil knowledge
- ArcGIS proficiency
· Class 5 driver’s licence
