We are seeking a professional, adaptable, and service-focused Banquet Coordinator to join our team and deliver exceptional meeting and event experiences.
Please note: The wage for this position is $19.38 per hour + gratuities.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Banquet Coordinator plays a key role in delivering exceptional meeting and event experiences at The Parkside Hotel & Spa. This position is responsible for setting up and taking down events according to Banquet Event Orders, ensuring all details meet established standards. The Banquet Coordinator will assist with serving smaller functions and collaborates with our catering partner during larger events. This role requires strong communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to providing outstanding service that creates a seamless and memorable experience for every client.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Works closely with the sales and operations teams to ensure all event details are executed as planned.
- Attends banquet event meetings to understand all details prior to function.
- Efficiently sets up and takes down event spaces.
- Greets clients with a welcoming, friendly, and professional demeanor.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for clients upon arrival, reviewing event details and timelines.
- Monitors client needs during events, promptly addressing any issues or special requests.
- Demonstrates clear, courteous, and professional communication with guests, clients, team members, vendors, and management at all times.
- Maintains a strong knowledge of all food and beverage offerings.
- Serves food and beverage for smaller functions.
- Sets function tables: polishes cutlery, checks glassware, places tableware, to an accurate and consistent standard, prior to guest arrival.
- Coordinates with the catering team for event service when necessary.
- Follows proper cleaning standards and bussing procedures.
- Performs administrative tasks, including preparing signage and managing emails.
- Ensures that all banquet areas, including the kitchen and storage spaces, are clean, organized, and properly stocked.
- Works as part of the overall team with a primary focus on client satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous customer services experience is required.
- Previous banquet experience is preferred.
- Hospitality education or experience is desirable.
- Valid BC FOODSAFE Certification is considered an asset.
- Fluency in additional language(s) is highly desirable.
- Professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Computer literacy a necessity; competency Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
- Must be able to perform the physical tasks of the job.
- Available to work a mix of shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
