Responsibilities:
Act as project manager, structural lead, and designer for engineering assignments
Responsible for Transportation Structural inspection assignments and acting as Supervising Engineer on biennial (OSIM) inspection assignments
Lead and conduct the inspection of existing bridges, culverts, and other transportation structures in accordance with the Ontario Structure Inspection Manual (OSIM), Ontario Health and Safety Act (OHSA), and other applicable standards
Available to work flexible hours, days, nights, and weekends. Staff will be required to be away from home for periods of time
Complete daily Health and Safety documentation
Provide recommendations and costing on bridge, culvert and retaining walls, required maintenance, repair and rehabilitation
Project Manager for Inspection assignments
Input data captured in the field into a database onsite
Provide direction to project team members and support staff through verbal and written instructions
Attend and participate in team progress meetings
Technically review inspection reports
Conduct regular reviews of transportation structure inspection projects to ensure budget, schedule, risk, and cost to complete estimates are appropriate
Prepare and review technical reports, summary reports and proposals
Work within assigned projects and schedules
Qualifications:
BASc or B.Eng. In civil/structural engineering with strong interest and experience in Bridge Engineering – Biennial Inspections
P. Eng. status and 10+ years leading Biennial inspection assignments
RAQS eligible within Bridge Engineering for Biennial Inspections and Wood Bridge Inspections
Attended the MTO 2024 Inspectors workshop
Experience in the role of supervising Engineer on OSIM inspection assignments
Experience in fatigue inspections
Experience in proposal and report writing
Experience in Asset Management
Successful experience of analyzing, evaluating, rehabilitating and designing bridges and culverts
Interest in working both in the office and the field environment
Experience in project management
Ability to perform outdoor physical duties while doing bridge inspection work
Valid Ontario Driver’s license
Strong computer skills, including experience with bridge inspection and asset management software
Excellent written and verbal communication
Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
Able to work in a team environment and excel in bridge inspection projects
Proven ability to supervise, direct and mentor junior staff
Organized and detail oriented
Works well with minimal direction
