Capella Centre Alberta is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Housekeeper to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within our women’s shelter.
The Housekeeper supports routine cleaning, laundry, room preparation, and general housekeeping throughout the facility while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and respect for client privacy.
Position Details
Employment Type: Temporary Part-Time
Term: September 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027
Hours: 20 hours per week
Pay Rate: $22.29/hour
Reports to: Residential Manager
Work Setting: On-site residential shelter
Key Responsibilities May Include:
- Assist with maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of designated shelter areas, including bathrooms, common areas, bedrooms, offices, staff areas, and other assigned spaces.
- Complete assigned routine and deep cleaning tasks, including vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces.
- Assist with cleaning and preparing bedrooms and residential spaces as needed.
- Assist with laundry duties, including washing, drying, folding, and organizing linens, towels, and bedding.
- Collect garbage and recycling and restock housekeeping and washroom supplies as needed.
- Follow WHMIS, sanitation, and safe handling procedures for cleaning products and equipment.
- Identify and report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or damaged equipment.
- Maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and respect for client privacy.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous housekeeping, janitorial, or professional cleaning experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning, sanitation, and safe handling practices.
- Strong attention to detail and good organizational and time-management skills.
- Demonstrated reliability and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate respectfully and professionally in a residential shelter environment.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Welfare Intervention Record Check required.
- WHMIS certification required or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to perform physically demanding housekeeping duties, including standing, bending, reaching, lifting, and repetitive cleaning tasks.
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs (approximately 23 kg).
