NATURE OF WORK:
The Department of School Operations is seeking a motivated, experienced Project Development Officer to research, implement, support, and evaluate projects that will make a difference for our school leadership, youth sector schools, and students. As a team, we work together toward continuous improvement with our fifteen schools, which requires additional resources and tools to support our regional team. Using your strong research, communication, technological, and collaboration skills, you will work with other key team members to move projects and those of our schools forward.
Key areas of focus within are department and schools that require additional support are: school improvement, student success, student engagement, and educational leadership, where we have strategic and departmental plans aligned. Our schools and departmental team also support the development, implementation, and follow up of schools’ Local Education Plans (LEPs). Being a source of support for our school teams in sharing tools and resources would be a key responsibility as a Project Development Officer.
CHARACTERISTIC FUNCTIONS:
Participate in the implementation and update of strategic plans for the Department of School Operations and our schools;
Research, develop project plans, and manage the implementation of projects focused on: best practices in indigenous education, effective leadership, student engagement, student success, and other priorities identified by the School Operations team;
Periodically evaluate the project activities and make comments, produce reports and formulate recommendations concerning the delivery of activities;
Prepare and conduct information sharing and training activities related to projects;
Develop, implement, update, and share resources and tools to support school leadership and our departmental team in their work;
Establish and maintain relationships with representatives of partner organizations involved in the various programs studied to obtain or give advice or information;
Keep up to date on best practices and trends in relation to Indigenous education, school improvement, student success, student engagement, and educational leadership;
Collaborate in any special projects or initiatives in relation to the department and schools;
Assume any other responsibility compatible with her/his function that may be assigned by the Director of School Operations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate specialty.
Fluency in English is required;
Ability to work in French is an asset;
Ability to speak Cree is an asset;
High level of autonomy and communication skills;
Available to travel.
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
Regular Full-Time
35 hours/week
