About Us
Within a distributed medical education model, the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) Program is responsible for delivering an integrated four-year program at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.
Undergraduate Medicine is one of nine programs within the Education Portfolio in the Dean’s Office at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry (SSMD). The Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) program is a four-year program which qualifies students for the MD degree. The Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) Program coordinates all aspects of the MD program. The MD curriculum is delivered across multiple communities in South-western Ontario, including the city of Windsor.
The Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) Program strives to deliver quality education and service by ensuring an open and friendly environment for faculty, staff and students exists. Required to uphold a team philosophy; sharing and collaborating with staff throughout the Dean's Office and the Schulich Windsor Program is essential.
Responsibilities
The Curriculum Assistant (Pre-Clerkship Clinical Curriculum and Awards) provides administrative support for all activities associated with the support, planning and delivery of the Clinical Education program as part of the Undergraduate Medicine Year 1 and Year 2 Doctor of Medicine program in both the London and Windsor campuses. The role assists the Clinical Skills Learning Program office with the coordination of the Year 1, 2 and Year 4 Office Simulated Clinical Exam. The Curriculum Assistant also coordinates the student application process for all undergraduate medical education student awards, including the scheduling, coordinating, and support of the awards committee as well providing support and information to stakeholders and communication on the process. In addition, the role serves as a first point of contact, providing coverage for reception duties in the Office of Medical Education as required.
Qualifications
Education:
- 3-year community college diploma in Business Management/Administration
- University Undergraduate Degree preferred
Experience:
- 3 years’ experience providing administrative support and coordination in an academic or clinical environment
- Experience with curriculum and course development support and oversight and with high volume project output
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Intermediate proficiency required in Microsoft Office in order to prepare emails, course outlines, announcements, and to input data into spreadsheets and databases
- Basic understanding of medical terminology
- Ability to listen closely and to use Zoom (or other electronic communication platforms), phone, and in-person communication to respond to issues, questions, and concerns from a variety of stakeholders in a timely manner
- Ability to establish effective routines for excellent communication with all members of the team to maximize productivity
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
- Demonstrated ability to apply creativity, innovation and resourcefulness to daily work
- Strong customer service skills to handle enquiries and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner
- Strong attention to detail and proofreading abilities with an excellent command of the English language
