Role Description The Senior Mortgage Underwriter is a full-time, on-site / Hybrid role based in St Albert, AB. This position is responsible for assessing mortgage applications, analyzing borrower documentation, and applying lending policies and guidelines to make sound credit decisions. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing income, credit, assets, and property information; identifying and mitigating risk; and ensuring files comply with regulatory and lender requirements. The Senior Mortgage Underwriter will collaborate closely with mortgage agents, lenders, and other team members to structure deals, resolve issues, and deliver timely responses to support an excellent client experience. The role also involves maintaining accurate records, staying current with industry changes, and contributing to continuous improvement of underwriting processes.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in the Mortgage Industry and Mortgages, with a solid understanding of Canadian lending practices and regulations.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Mortgage Underwriting and Underwriting, including complex file assessment and risk evaluation.
- Well-developed Analytical Skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make balanced, evidence-based decisions.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple files and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with internal teams, lenders, and clients in a professional manner.
- Previous experience in a senior or advanced underwriting role within a mortgage brokerage, bank, or lender is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with mortgage underwriting software and related financial tools; comfort with learning new technologies.
- Must be RECA licensed in Alberta.
- Minimum 3 years Mortgage experience.
Pay: $80,000.00-$135,000.00 per year
