Crew Lead - Year Round Position.
A Crew Lead is an experienced employee in landscape and construction, basic electricity, basic plumbing and works with minimal supervision. The position directs the activities of a team of two or more in the construction of pavers in the form of walkways, patios, driveways, pools and more. Activities may also include walls, gardens, ponds, waterfalls, firepits, low-voltage lighting and other landscaping related activities. A Crew Lead is required to perform the following duties and undertake the following responsibilities in a professional manner:
a) Reads, interprets and implements design prints for the designated landscape construction plan. Understands elevations and uses this knowledge to execute construction plan.
b) Operates, proficiently, a variety of mechanical equipment, including bobcats, back hoes, dingos, plater compactors, grinders, drills, gas saws, demolition hammers, jack hammers and other related landscape tools.
c) Operates company vehicles including trailers and attaches equipment safely into motor vehicles and follows laws while doing so.
d) Completes the necessary paperwork including timesheets, work orders, change orders, material requisitions, daily job talks, log books, equipment logs, incident and accident reports as necessary. Plans and organizes the job, ensuring that sufficient resources and materials are available. Also ensures that job is completed in the most time-efficient manner.
e) Manages a team of 3 or more employees, including handling personnel issues on site and training employees of company policies and procedures.
f) Routinely interacts with clients by way of introductions at the beginning of a job, answering questions, responding to client’s requests, making reasonable changes to the plan, and providing a walk-through at the job’s completion.
g) Maintains a clean and safe work environment, including work site and company equipment.
h) Briefs supervisors and make recommendations on job status, personnel issues or client concerns.
i) Maintains equipment assigned and notifies owner of needed repairs.
j) Works within the physical demands outlined in an outdoor landscaping position that the employee will encounter on the job site. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; crouch; stoop or kneel; reach with hands and arms; talk; and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job are dictated.
k) The job site conditions described are ones that the employee must work in and will encounter while performing the essential responsibilities of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather (heat or cold), and moving mechanical equipment. In addition, job sites are located on both residential and commercial property. The employee may also occasionally be exposed to the homeowner’s pets.
l) Operation of Truck and snow plow an asset.
m) Other duties as may arise from time to time and as may be assigned to the employee.
