EHS Technician

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Environmental, Health and Safety Technician works within a facility management organization that provides a variety of O&M services that includes R&D Labs, critical data environments and commercial office space. Technician is responsible for completing all assigned tasks while maintaining a constant focus on environmental, health and safety requirements.
Job Description

Inspect site for batteries. Pickup batteries from all AMD locations. Package and prepare batteries per shipping regulations. Coordinate shipments of batteries. Submit documentation to onsite AMD EHS Engineer.
Inspect site for electronic waste. Pickup electronic waste from all AMD locations and deliver to the central e-waste collection area. Coordinate shipments of electronic waste. Submit documentation to onsite AMD EHS Engineer.
Inspect site for hazardous waste. Pickup hazardous waste from all AMD locations. Package and prepare hazardous waste per hazardous waste regulations. Coordinate shipments of hazardous waste. Submit documentation to onsite AMD EHS Engineer.
Perform site chemical inventories to support provincial chemical reporting requirements.
Support labs with combustible storage, waste disposal, electronic waste pickups.
Perform monthly indoor EHS inspections.
Inspect all soldering stations weekly and ensure users are operating within Job Hazard Analysis.
Perform noise surveys.
Update and support all evacuation planning, map production, assembly area marking, etc.
Review, approve and audit hot work activities.
Submit energy metrics in online tool. This includes electricity, water, waste, etc.
Perform Air Permit equipment inventory.
Identify workspace ergonomic concerns.
Attend compliance audits and work to correct any alleged violations identified.
Comply with company policies and safety requirements/programs.

High School graduate, GED, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 2 years EHS experience
Must have flexibility to work overtime and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays, and serve on an on-call basis, as may be dictated by the needs of the business
Must be able to use personal computers/MS Office experience required
Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, journals, technical, procedures, or governmental regulations
Ability to effectively communicate to management and client representatives

Must possess a valid driver license.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch/crawl and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, unsafe places, fumes/airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
