Algoma Orchards is a 4th generation family run local business who are proud to be known as a leader in Canada’s apple farming and packing industry. As an essential service, we provide healthy food to consumers across Canada year-round.
Our year-round Gourmet Market (located in our state-of-the-art packing and juice bottling facility in Newcastle, Ontario) is currently looking to hire a Part Time Store Associate. This position will be scheduled 16-24 hours per week. This position is NOT conducive to a STUDENT's schedule.
Our ideal candidate will have:
· A friendly, outgoing and positive attitude
· Punctual, reliable with own transportation
· Primary shifts will be weekdays; however, must be flexible to work all shifts (we are open 7 days a week all year 9am – 5pm)
· Willingness to learn
· Attention to detail with good organizational skills
· Good communication and interpersonal skills, works well with others
· Be able to bend, crouch, kneel and stand for extended periods of time
· Be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
* Valid Food Handlers Certification and Smart Serve Certificate
· Food Prep and Baking skills would be an asset
· Experience using a POS system
· Customer service and retail experience
· Have a passion for food and our products so you can knowledgably handle sales and customer enquiries
What you will do:
· Adhere to all Food Safety and Health and Safety Protocols
· Provide customer service to meet customer needs in a friendly and professional manner
· Stock shelves and replenish displays
· Pricing of items
· Process payments and bag up customer’s purchases at checkout
· Handle and prepare deli products and bakery items
· Perform cleaning duties in all work areas
· Assist in receiving and storage of product
· Work in a safe manner
We are open 7 days per week throughout the year so shifts will include and applicants must be available weekdays, weekends and holidays. We are looking for candidates who are available year-round. Unfortunately, this position is NOT conducive to a STUDENT's schedule.
