The Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary is seeking sessional instructors to teach the following International Foundations Program courses for the 2019 Fall Session (September 5 to December 6, 2019) and 2020 Winter Session (January 13 to April 15, 2020).

The International Foundations Program provides required English language skills to academically qualified students who do not meet the English language proficiency requirements of the University of Calgary. It also serves as a laboratory facility for teacher education (B.Ed.) students and graduate students specializing in teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL) and applied linguistics.

Sessional Instructors will teach students in the International Foundations Program and will serve as instructor of record for student teachers who are assigned to IFP for their field experience.

Position Requirements

International Foundations Program: To be considered, applicants must hold a doctorate degree specializing in Second Language Acquisition, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, 2nd Language Literacy Education or related field. Successful candidates must have proven experience in post-secondary EAP/ESL/SLA education using a variety of current pedagogical approaches, and a strong commitment to English language and/or bilingual education. Experience and proficiency teaching in an online environment is an asset. Candidates with a proven track record in English language instruction for Science and/or Engineering at a tertiary level are strongly encouraged to apply. Non-native speakers of English must be able to demonstrate proficiency and fluency in English equivalent to iBT TOEFL score of 110 or higher. Successful applicants will be expected to work effectively in a fast-paced and highly collaborative post-secondary teaching and learning environment.
