As our business continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced, customer-focused Lumber & Building Materials Sales Associate to join our team. What You'll Do
Every day is different. You'll work with everyone from first-time DIY customers building a backyard deck to experienced contractors managing large construction projects.
You'll be responsible for:
- Assisting homeowners, DIY customers, and contractors with selecting the right products for their projects.
- Preparing accurate and competitive material quotations.
- Reading basic construction drawings and helping customers determine the materials they need.
- Providing knowledgeable advice on lumber, building materials, roofing, insulation, siding, drywall, decking, hardware, and related products.
- Building strong relationships with contractors while providing exceptional customer service to every customer.
- Following up on quotations to help customers move their projects forward.
- Coordinating with our yard, delivery, purchasing, and estimating teams to ensure orders are accurate and completed on time.
- Learning about new products, construction techniques, and changes to the Ontario Building Code.
- Keeping the sales area organized, stocked, and welcoming.
We're Looking For Someone Who Has
- Experience in a lumber yard, building centre, contractor supply, construction, or a related industry.
- Retail or customer service experience.
- Strong knowledge of lumber and residential building materials.
- A basic understanding of residential construction.
- Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code, or a willingness to learn.
- Confidence preparing quotations and calculating material requirements.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good computer skills and the ability to learn new software.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to continue learning.
