Senior Mold Designer

Job Summary

Develops a mold design which meets the design criteria of the customer by using the customer’s initial design or mold specifications within the cost, timing and quality objectives.

Major Duties:

  • Develops pre-design from information provided by the customer and may be required to develop several concepts to achieve a final design direction.
  • Investigates and procures all data required to develop designs and uses best combination of preliminary information and contributing data to develop final designs.
  • Develops complete design, which includes layouts with background information, detail drawings, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing in accordance with customer and technical requirements.
  • Makes changes to current product as directed by Design Leader.
  • Uses understanding of stack ups, gaps/margins, and master sections, and formats them in a manner that meets the requirements of engineering.
  • Prepares all sketches and/or schematic diagrams.
  • Makes changes to current product as directed by Design Leader.
  • Transfers data per company process and keeps the part file folder up to date.
  • Develops and conducts any specific feasibility studies needed to address issues.
  • Ensures the integrity of all design information communicated on assigned programs.
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Minimum 5 years with NX
  • GDT (geometric Dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Class A Surface
  • Experience using MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Surfacing experience

In addition, this person will have strong problem solving and organizational skills, with the demonstrated ability to meet deadlines. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
