Lead Quality Control Inspector – Burnaby, BC
Join CIMS Limited Partnership as a Lead Quality Control Inspector, where you'll drive excellence and ensure the highest standards of quality across multiple disciplines, including welding, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation. In this leadership role, you will manage a team of inspectors, assigning tasks, defining expectations, deliverables, and timelines to ensure seamless project execution.
You will be accountable for:
- Ensure that all incoming and outgoing raw and fabricated materials meet quality standards, with appropriate identification and job numbers transferred to individual materials before cutting.
- Perform receiving inspections and review material test reports (MTRs) for each job, assigning steel ID numbers and maintaining a material receiving log.
- Conduct welding and dimensional inspections, monitor NDE activities in compliance with specifications, and arrange for NDE of completed welds as per the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).
- Track welding NDE percentages, welder rejection rates, and non-conformance issues, recommending corrective actions as necessary.
- Prepare and circulate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) detailing issues and providing recommendations to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain a log of Non-Conformances, ensuring proper disposition and acceptance.
- Ensure that all Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QC/QA) documentation is complete and accurate.
- Support internal and external customer needs by reviewing scopes of work, engineering drawings, and project specifications and ensuring personnel are working with the latest approved revisions.
- Compile and submit QA/QC turnover packages to client inspectors, scanning final versions to the server.
- Ensure tracking and reporting KPIs, ensuring that quality benchmarks are met consistently
- For new welders, verify qualifications, assign welder IDs, and update the welder qualification log, maintaining a copy of certifications on file.
- Prepare Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), review Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), and submit to client QA for review and approval.
- Conduct surveillance on welders' performance, ensuring compliance with the client quality program and WPS parameters such as preheat and filler metals.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- CWB Level II or equivalent (API) certification with piping and/or equipment experience (tanks, boilers, exchangers, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Proficient verbal and written communication, along with strong planning, organization, conflict resolution, and training abilities.
- Ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities effectively across all levels of the organization and with clients.
- Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software for monitoring quality standards.
Working conditions:
- Work may be performed in both office environments and customer sites, supplier premises, or fabrication shops.
- Use of standard fabrication shop equipment such as welders, power tools, and hand tools.
- May involve outdoor work in various weather conditions (heat, cold, wet, humid, or dry).
- May require occasional work outside regular hours to meet deadlines.
- Frequent standing, walking, repetitive movement, and lifting required.
- Use of personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.

Pay: $70.00-$85.00 per hour
